FAQ:
Q1: TLF does not start properly
------------------------------------------------------------
A1.1: You are probably starting TLF from an X console. Some X consoles are not compatible with the ncurses library.
TLF has been written for text console mode. Try console mode first. This has been tested with Slackware 8.0, RH 7.2, Debian woody, Suse 7.0. You get from X to the console with CTRL-ALT-F2 (or 3,4,5,6). Back to X with ALT-F7.
Use TERM=rxvt. .
Q1: TLF does not start properly
-------------------------------------------------------------
A1.2: Do you have a logcfg.dat file in the directory you start tlf from?
Q2: I run tlf under X, and the colours are bad, I can hardly read the screen.
-------------------------------------------------------------
A2: Xterm does not like tlf. In most cases TERM=rxvt does the trick.
Q3: I cannot change the cw speed, and the up-arrow and down-arrow keys are not working
-------------------------------------------------------------
A3:This is a terminal incompatibility problem. In most cases TERM=rxvt does the trick.
Q4: I edited the logfile, and now tlf can not read it any more.
-------------------------------------------------------------
A4: You probably used the e3 editor. E3 changes the format of the log, whereas tlf expects to see a fixed log line of 81 characters. Use overwrite mode. In the meantime, it always helps if you make a backup before you edit!
Q5: I am running TLF on a 33 MHZ 386 machine, and the program is really slow...
------------------------------------------------------------
A5: Tlf versions 0.5.x are still based on communication via disk files, which takes a lot of machine resources. This has been cured in version 0.6, which runs completely in RAM.
Q6: I can ping all nodes on the network, but tlf does not communicate log and packet data
---------------------------------------------------------------------
A6: In logcfg.dat you have to use ADDNODE=x.x.x.x only for the OTHER nodes, NOT for the node you are programming.
Q7: I can not get the keyer to work (message "problem with keyer link", and tlf switches to SSB all the time),
and I have checked, the keyer is running o.k.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
A7: Switch to CW (:CWMode), Exit (:EXIt) and restart tlf.
Tlf will now talk to the keyer o.k..
